Xander Schauffele will be keen to finally clinch the elusive

What to know about Schauffele
The American star turned professional in June 2015 and he went on to win second stage at Oak Valley GC in Beaumont, California, and ultimately, narrowly, earned his Web.com Tour card in the finals in Florida in a tie for 45th.
Schauffele has since won 12 professional tournaments, including nine PGA Tour events and won two major championships, both in the same year, the 2024 PGA Championship and the 2024 Open Championship.

The 2016-17 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year was in action in the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida, USA, where he finished 40th.
Schauffele is currently placed third in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and his best overall ranking is second.
Why Schauffele is among the favourites
The San Diego-born golfer tends to perform well at The Players Championship, having finished T2 at TPC Sawgrass with a score of 14 under par in 2018, with Webb Simpson being crowned champion.
Schauffele was then the runner-up in The Players Championship for the second time in his career in 2024, with Scottie Scheffler winning the tournament and he will be looking to go one step further, and win this weekend's event.

“I'm trying to convince myself to be in a good spot mentally regardless,” Schauffele, who recently recovered from a rip injury, said on the PGA Tour website ahead of this year's The Players Championship.
“I can't sit all year long and feel sorry for myself like, oh, you know, I'm just rusty, I haven't played. That stuff doesn't matter in any sport, so it is what it is.
"And I'm gonna have to sort of pick up the pace.”
