2024-25 Premier League
Matchday 28
Manchester United v Arsenal
Old Trafford, Manchester
Sunday, 9 March 2025
Kick-off at 18:30
Manchester United and Arsenal will renew a classic Premier League rivalry when they meet in a Matchday 28 Premier League clash, set for Old Trafford on the evening of Sunday, 9 March 2025. Kick-off is at 18:30 CAT.
Current Form
Man United returned to winning form in the league when they defeated Ipswich Town 3-2 on 26 February, with an own goal from Sam Morsy, as well as strikes by defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire. The result ended a three-game winless run in the league and left United in 14th place on 33 points from 27 matches.
The Red Devils have generally struggled at home this season, suffering five defeats from their last seven league matches at Old Trafford.
Arsenal are winless in their last two league matches, with a 1-0 loss at home to West Ham United followed by a 0-0 draw away to Nottingham Forest on 26 February. The London heavyweights are placed second on the log on 54 points from 27 matches - 13 points adrift of leaders Liverpool, but with one game in hand.
The Gunners have put together an eight-match unbeaten run away from home in the league, with their last defeat on the road coming against Newcastle United in November last year.
Team News
Manchester United will be without Patrick Dorgu due to suspension, while their lengthy injury list includes Alejandro Garnacho, Masoun Mount, Amad Diallo, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans.
Arsenal also have several notable absentees due to injury, with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus all sidelined.
Quotes
“We want to do better and we know that we are in a difficult moment,” said Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. “I am not naive. That is why I am here coaching Manchester United at 40 years old.
“I know that in this moment everybody knows everything. I know that it is really easy. I was a pundit when I finished my career. I know it is really easy.”
Head-to-Head
In head-to-head terms, Manchester United and Arsenal have met in 242 matches across all competitions since 1894. The Red Devils have claimed 102 wins compared to 90 for the Gunners, while 50 games have been drawn.
When the teams last met in the Premier League, at the Emirates Stadium in London in December 2024, Arsenal claimed a 2-0 home win thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba.
