The Eastern Conference’s Indiana Pacers will go up against the Western Los Angeles Lakers in an
NBA regular season clash at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday.
With the Pacers currently building a decent streak, they will be hoping to keep up the momentum against a wounded Lakers battling with injuries.
Tyrese Hailburton is a player to watch in this one, as the Pacers point guard recently led the team to an impressive 119-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hailburton had 24 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, the Lakers had to deal with another setback in their push to the playoffs, as they lost 118-106 to Orlando Magic on Tuesday.
Even with strong performances from both Luka Doncic (32 points) and LeBron James (24 points), the Lakers lost their third consecutive game, falling to a 43-28 record and into a tie with the Memphis Grizzlies for the fourth seed in the West.
Lakers coach JJ Redick stated that his team's defensive effort has dropped off significantly compared to the intensity they showed during their recent eight-game winning streak, which had temporarily elevated them to second place.
Redick believes the Lakers can regain their winning form, acknowledging that injuries and resulting line-up adjustments might be affecting the team. "We can get back there," Redick said. He also noted the team's apparent fatigue.
"We look tired. I don't know what contributes to that... we weren't able to sustain our level of intensity that we started the game out with.”
"We've got to get back into the flow and the rhythm," he added. "It's not just (the returning players) getting back into the flow, but it's the group and how the group functions."
