Zambia will look to put pressure on the Group G leaders when they welcome Chad to the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium for a
2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday, October 11.
The Copper Bullets were made to work for their 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone on September 10, having twice been pegged back before Kings Kangwa scored the winning goal on 85 minutes.
Avram Grant's side picked up their first points in the group after starting off the qualifying campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast on September 6.
Chipolopolo trail the Elephants by three points in second place ahead of the double-header against Les Sao, who bring up the rear on one point behind the Leone Stars by virtue of an inferior goal difference.
Grant will be hoping his team have turned the corner with only their second win in 2024 after losing both 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June and crashing out of AFCON 2023 without winning a single game.
Chad have lost three of their last four encounters since beating Mauritius 3-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round of qualifying in March.
Kevin Nicaise's side kicked off proceedings with a 0-0 draw against Sierra Leone in Monrovia on September 6 before being beaten 2-0 by the AFCON 2023 champions in Yaounde four days later.
The two nations have only met twice before which was way back during qualifying for AFCON 2008, with Zambia winning 2-0 away from home on 3 September 2006 before drawing the home leg 1-1 on 16 June 2007.
