Francesco Bagnaia will be hoping to become the second Italian motorcycle racer to win back-to-back
San Marino Grand Prix titles after Valentino Rossi.
The Yamaha rider was in his element in last season's San Marino MotoGP as he won the race for the first time in his career - dominating the event from start to finish.
Bagnaia has hit form in the current campaign having won the most recent race which was the Austrian MotoGP on August 21.

Starting with the second fastest time, Bagnaia was once again the protagonist of a perfect race that saw him leading from start to finish and it was his third consecutive win this term.
Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha and Jack Miller of Ducati finished second and third respectively in a race that took place at the Red Bull Ring.
Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Quratararo is still at the top of the standings and Aleix Espargaró of Aprilia is currently placed second on the table.
Bagnaia, who is the most in-form rider in MotoGP, remains third in the standings and he will edge closer to Espargaro if he wins the San Marino MotoGP.

"It was a great weekend. We weren't very fast, but after FP4," Bagnaia said after winning the Austrian MotoGP.
"We found a solution that allowed us to be competitive in qualifying and consistent in the race. In order not to risk problems, we made maybe one tyre choice that wasn't quite right, and in the last laps,
"I suffered a little, but in the end, we made it. I'm very happy and can't wait to get back on track in a fortnight for my home race at Misano."
Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Aprilia respectively.
