Female tennis stars who are set to dominate the courts


Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber, Petra Kvitová, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova have dominated women's tennis in the last decade.
 
They have inspired the next generation of superstars, who are starting to set the tennis world alight.
 
We take a look at female tennis stars, who are destined to dominate the courts and their best results in the grand slam competitions, namely the Australian Open, French Open, US Open and Wimbledon.

The 19-year-old has a bright future and is the reigning champion at the US Open and the Canadian Open, having defeated tennis icon Serena Williams to win both titles.
 
Andreescu, whose style of play combines power with variety, is the first Canadian tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title and the first to win the Canadian Open in 50 years.
 
Furthermore, she is also the first player to win a Grand Slam singles title as a teenager since Maria Sharapova in 2006.
 
“Bianca played an unbelievable match. And congratulations. I’m so proud and happy for you," Serena Williams said about Andreescu after the 2019 US Open final.
 
"It was incredible tennis out there. I wish I could have played better. If anyone could win this tournament — outside of Venus — I’m happy it’s Bianca.”

The 21-year-old is another immensely talented youngster and is the reigning champion at the Australian Open having defeated Garbiñe Muguruza in three sets to claim the 2020 trophy.
 
Kenin, who won the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year in 2019, is the youngest American to win a Grand Slam women's singles title since Serena Williams in 2002.
 
She is the first American to win the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year award since Serena Williams in 1999 and she has won five WTA singles titles.

The 22-year-old is already one of the best female tennis players in the world having won two Grand Slam titles, the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open.
 
Osaka became the first player to achieve this feat since Jennifer Capriati in 2001. The Japanese star is also the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in singles.
 
She has won five titles on the WTA Tour, including two titles at both the Grand Slam and Premier Mandatory levels.

Nicknamed Ash, Barty has won eight singles titles on the WTA Tour, including one Grand Slam singles title at the 2019 French Open.
 
The Australian star is an all-court player, who employs a wide variety of shots into her style of play. She is also the reigning champion in singles at the WTA Finals.

"There's a lot of things she does that's really great, what I love about her game is just her fluidity," tennis legend Martina Hingis said about Barty on Tennis Australia.

"I think before she had all the shots but didn't always use the right things at the right time, which was good enough in juniors.

"But now I think she's kind of found herself. She's grounded now and she knows what she wants and I just love the variety about her game."
