Football's most recognisable names have joined in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which has killed close to 75,000 people worldwide as of the 6th of April 2020.
The United States of America, Spain, Italy and Germany have been amongst the worst affected by the respiratory disease which is said to have originated in Wuhan, China late last year.
Several footballers have been directly affected by the disease with Juventus star Paulo Dybala amongst several Serie A players to have contracted the virus, while Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta also tested positive for COVID-19 but has since made a full recovery.
Betway takes a look at some of the donations made by football clubs and players over the last few months in combat against the virus which has suspended competitive sport across the globe indefinitely.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
The world's top two footballers have been amongst the biggest donators with both having donated €1 million to help fight the spread of he coronavirus.
Messi also revealed that Barcelona's players will take 70 per cent wage cuts and make other contributions to ensure the team's other employees will still be paid during Spain's state of emergency.
Neymar
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has donated $1 million to fight the impact of the novel coronavirus in his native Brazil.
Robert Lewandowski
The Bayern Munich forward and Poland international also donated €1 million to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Germany.
Pep Guardiola
Similarly, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has also donated €1 million to fight the coronavirus in Spain. Sadly, it was announced on Monday that the former Barcelona midfielder had lost his mother to the virus.
Manchester City and Manchester United
The Manchester clubs each donated £50,000 to 19 Trussell Trust food bank centres in the Greater Manchester area to help vulnerable families and individuals affected by the outbreak.

Jose Mourinho
The Tottenham Hotspur head coach offered a helping hand to the elderly in North London, distributing care packages so that they wouldn't have to leave the house during self-isolation.
Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast star offered to open up 50 properties in London to NHS staff working round the clock to tackle the pandemic.
Arsenal
The Gunners announced they'll donate £150,000 to help fight coronavirus as well as making all staff cars available to NHS workers.
Liverpool and Everton
The Merseyside teams have stepped in to assist their local fans and community as many food banks across the UK see a rise in demand.
Liverpool FC is giving £40,000 to local food banks, while players Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson have been amongst the biggest donators.
The Liverpool first-team squad as a whole have also pledged to make a joint donation to the LFC Foundation.

Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United forward has partnered with FareShare, a charity which fights hunger by redistributing surplus food to frontline charities across the UK.
Toby Alderweireld
The Tottenham Hotspur defender has pledged to donate tablets to hospitals and nursing homes to help sick people stay in touch with family and friends during the pandemic, while people practice social distancing in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.
Paul Pogba
The Manchester United midfielder set up a funding page on his 27th birthday to help children affected by the outbreak. Pogba pledged to support UNICEF and said he would double the fund if the £27,000 goal is reached.
Kasper Schmeichel
The Leicester City goalkeeper made a £20,000 donation to Age UK in Leicester.
Paris Saint-Germain
The French champions have donated €100,000 to the Secours Populaire Francais, an organisation dedicated to fighting poverty.
Serie A clubs
First-team players and staff at Inter have donated €500,000, while crowdfunding campaigns set up by Roma, Milan, Juventus and Fiorentina have each raised more than €420,000 while a campaign spearheaded by Lazio highlighted the importance of people continuing to donate blood, it it was safe for them to do so.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The AC Milan striker launched a “Kick the Virus Away” campaign, putting in the first €100,000, and his fund has passed the €300,000 mark.
