The last meeting between the two teams in the league was on 30 October 2021 with Valencia securing a 2-0 win over Villarreal at the Estadio de Mestalla.
Valencia are also undefeated in their last two La Liga matches against Villarreal having recorded two successive wins over their opponents.
Meanwhile, Villarreal were held to a 1-1 draw by Athletic Bilbao in their last home match in the league which took place on April 9.
As a result, the Yellow Submarine are undefeated in their last nine matches at home in this competition having registered six victories and three draws.
While Valencia managed to hold a resilient Rayo Vallecano side to a 1-1 draw in their away La Liga match that was played on April 11.

The draw extended the Bats' unbeaten run to four matches on the road in the league having recorded two victories and two draws as the visitors.
"We knew it was going to be a very intense match, we struggled to adapt to the intensity and pressure from Rayo, and we had several losses of possession. At all times, the team went for the game, but we must highlight the work done by Rayo," Valencia manager Jose Bordalas said.
"They caused us problems, today we had difficulties and Mamardashvili was a protagonist with some saves, although we had the opportunity to score the second goal. They have a lot at stake and they beat us to many second balls, leading to the difficulties we had in the game.
"It was possible not to get the victory, and we came here for the three points, but we must highlight the good work done by Rayo, who have recovered the good feeling they had in the first half of the season. The team tried at all times, but we didn’t get the win."
