2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans is set to take place in Avondale, Louisiana, USA between 17 and 23 April 2023.
What to know about the tournament
The PGA Tour event was established in 1938, but it became an annual event in 1958 and Zurich Insurance Group Ltd has been the main sponsor since 2005.
The year 2018 saw the format switched to fourball for the first and third rounds and alternate shot for the second and fourth rounds.
Tournament News
The tournament organisers have confirmed that 160 golfers will take part in the 2023 event and there will be an 80 two-man teams in the field.
The golfers will compete in foursome and fourballs in alternating days over four rounds, including a 36-hole cut, to determine a champion.
Sixteen of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking will be among the top contenders at the TPC Louisiana.
Favourites
Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, who are the defending champions of this tournament, are the favourites to win the event.
Collin Morikawa and Max Homa will pair up for the first time, while Sam Burns is set to team up with Billy Horschel.
Some of the other teams in this year's field include Sungjae Im teaming up with Keith Mitchell, and Si Woo Kim pairing up with Tom Kim.
What Is At Stake
Each member of the winning team is credited with an official PGA Tour victory.
He also will bank 400 FedExCup points, which is the average of first (500) and second (300) in standard individual competitions
Purse for 2023 totals a record $8.6 million, with each member of the winning team earning $1,242,700, while also scooping a beautiful trophy made by Waterford Crystal.
Quotes
Both current American and European Ryder Cup captains will play in the Zurich Classic this year, each paired with one of their vice-captains.
American captain Zach Johnson will team with vice-captain Steve Stricker, and European captain Luke Donald will pair with Edoardo Molinari.
