MTN Zambia Super League nears its end for the season in week twenty-nine, with matches set for April 20th and 21st, one of the most exciting games is on Saturday - the Kitwe Derby. This was because Nkana was banned from using their home stadium due to disciplinary issues at the start of the season. In the first leg, Power Dynamos defeated Nkana 2-0, marking the first time in history the derby was played on neutral grounds.
Looking at their last five meetings, Power Dynamos has won four games, while Nkana has only won one. The last time Nkana defeated Power was on December 12th, 2021, with a score of 2-0. Currently, Power Dynamos sits third on the league table, while Nkana is in 11th place.
Nkana struggled with relegation throughout the first round and has been fighting it since 2021, whereas Power Dynamos has been aiming for the title and qualification for CAF competitions, having been eliminated from this year's ABSA Cup competition in the quarter-finals by FC MUZA, who beat them 1-0.
Both teams are entering this match fresh off wins in their week twenty-eight matches. Power Dynamos defeated Mutondo Stars 1-0, while Nkana triumphed over Konkola Blades 2-1.
The Kitwe Derby is one of the best in Africa and is renowned across the continent. It's always broadcasted on SuperSport, the world of champions. The derby is celebrated by many as it's a prideful moment for Zambian football.
