The Los Angeles Lakers will face Detroit Pistons in a
National Basketball Association (NBA) match at the Staples Center on February 7.
This will be the 389th meeting between the two giants and this rivalry was showcased three times in the NBA Finals (1988, 1989, 2004).
The Lakers have the upper hand having recorded 233 wins compared to the Pistons' 155 victories.

The last meeting between the two teams was on 29 January 2021 and the Pistons secured a 107-92 victory over the Lakers at the Little Caesars Arena.
The Lakers are placed third on the Western Conference standings having registered 16 wins and six defeats.
They suffered a 115-113 defeat to Golden State Warriors in their last home game which was played on 19 January 2021.

The defeat ended the defending champions' two-match winning run at their home ground, Staples Center.
Meanwhile, the Pistons are sitting 14th on the Eastern Conference standings having recorded five victories and 15 defeats.
They succumbed to a 118-91 defeat to the Warriors in their last away game which took place on 31 January 2021.
As a result, the Pistons are winless in four matches on the road having recorded four successive defeats as the visitors.
Dwane Casey, the Pistons head coach, says his side is due for a little luck after recent home 103-102 loss to Houston Rockets.
“I don’t know if it’s sluggish from being emotionally drunk from the other night, losing in Atlanta," Casey said postgame, referring to his side squandering a 17-point fourth-quarter lead and overtime loss.
“The excuse is not even important if we’re going to build a winning program. We’ve got to come out every night with our guns blazing, ready to roll no matter what happens.
"It’s going to be the same tomorrow night. I commend our guys for coming back in the second half, but we dug ourselves such a big hole that it took just too many shovels to get out of it.”
