Matchday 22

Everton v Arsenal

Goodison Park
Liverpool, England
Saturday, 4 February 2023
Kick-off is at 14h30

Arsenal will be looking to keep the momentum going in the Premier League when they visit relegation-threatened Everton on Saturday, February 4.

The Gunners maintained their five-point lead over Manchester City courtesy of a dramatic 3-2 win over Manchester United on January 22, which extended their unbeaten run in the league to 13 games.

MIkel Arteta's side displayed their title credentials against the Red Devils, having gone behind to Marcus Rashford's 17th-minute opener before they rallied and Eddie Nketiah scored a last-gasp winner at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta could be without Thomas Partey after the Ghanaian midfielder picked up an injury in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to City on January 27 and the Spaniard was coy on whether the club would seek midfield reinforcements during the current transfer window.

"Well, at the moment we've had the injury of Mo [Elneny] - it's been impossible to get him fit. Sambi's come in and I think he's done well. That's why we have players," Arteta said.

"It's true that Thomas is a big influence. a big personality and an important player in our squad. In the second half, we didn't have him."

The Toffees are still without a manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard in the wake of the 2-0 defeat to West Ham on January 21.

Lampard departed Goodison Park with the team two points adrift of safety in 19th place, having won just one of his last 10 games in charge, seven of which ended in defeat.

"Everyone at Everton would like to thank Frank and his coaching staff for their service during what has been a challenging 12 months," the club said in a statement.

"The Club has started the process to secure a new manager and will provide updates on the appointment in due course. Paul Tait and Leighton Baines will take training until a new manager is appointed."
