World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will be targeting the fifth Grand Slam of her career at the
2023 Wimbledon Championships after winning the French Open last month.
The young Polish star successfully defended her title at Roland Garros when she defeated Karolina Muchova in three sets to win the trophy for the third time.
Swiatek had made an early exit from the Australian Open after losing to reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the fourth round, although she went on to reach four finals on the WTA Tour prior to triumphing on the Paris clay.
With three Tour titles to her name in 2023, the 22-year-old will be hoping for a deep run at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club after failing to make it beyond the fourth round in three previous attempts.
Swiatek's preparations for Wimbledon suffered a setback when she was forced to withdraw from the Bad Homburg Open due to "fever and possible food poisoning", having reached the semi-finals.
She has made a full recovery and breezed past Zhu Lin (6-1, 6-3) and Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-0) in the opening two rounds to set up a meeting with Petra Martic in the third round.
Swiatek is determined to improve her record on grass and revealed that she has gone back to basics to raise her game on the surface.
"I believe the best players, they can play on all surfaces. I want to become that kind of player who can play well on grass as well and feel comfortable there," she said.
"I'm doing my best to just work on my skills. Last year I feel like we've done a pretty good job with my coach in terms of my touch and getting back slices and also playing the slice.
"This year I feel like we had more time to kind of focus on the basics, more time to also play matches. Yeah, I'm using that time as much as possible."
