2019/20 Premier League
28th Season
England
9 August 2019 – 25 July 2020
The resumption of the current
Premier League season on June 17 will see teams battle to retain their statuses in the English top flight.
The battle to avoid relegation was hotting up last March just before the campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
All eyes will be on Everton, who are placed 12th on the league standings as they are yet to hit the 40 points.
The magical 40-point mark mostly means survival in a 38-game season, but the teams which will survive relegation will have to do it without their fans.
The remaining 92 Premier League matches will be played behind closed doors in order to stem the spread of the coronavirus in the United Kingdom (UK).
Everton are set to resume their campaign against their Merseyside rivals Liverpool FC on the weekend of 19–21 June, and the match could be played in a neutral venue.

Mason Holgate, the Everton defender, says they are looking to win their remaining nine matches having accumulated 37 points thus far this season.
“We have nine games and all we need to concentrate on is trying to win them," Holgate said.
“We are going to need the entire squad. We are a team and know these games will come thick and fast. We will need each other."
AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich City occupy the bottom three positions on the league standings and they will be under pressure to climb out of the relegation zone.
Rock-bottom Norwich look like the favourites to go down to the English Championship as they are five points behind 19th-placed Villa, who are two points behind 18th-placed Bournemouth.
It is congested at the bottom of the log as Bournemouth are level on points with 17th-placed Watford and 16th-placed West Ham United, while 15th-placed Brighton and Hove Albion are only two points above them.
Eddie Howe, the Bournemouth manager, says his side will be ready for anything when the season resumes on June 17.
"I think there will be lots of clubs in the same situation looking at every game trying to maximise the possibilities of getting points and results," Howe said on Sky Sports
"You look at the Bundesliga results and you see the surprise results, a lot of away teams winning.
"I think potentially that could happen in the Premier League where it doesn't always go with the form book as it was when the season was last played, so [we're] prepared for anything really."
