2024 French Open is taking place at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France having started on 26 May and will come to an end on 9 June.
What to know about the tournament
The event which is also known as Roland-Garros is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, beginning in late May each year.
Established in 1891, the French Open is the premier clay court championship in the world and the only Grand Slam tournament currently held on this surface.
News
Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz, Grigor Dimitrov and Jannik Sinner are the four players that have so far progressed to Tuesday, 4 June's men's singles quarter-finals.
While Iga Swiatek, Markéta Vondrousova, Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur have all also secured their spots in Tuesday, 4 June's women's singles quarter-finals.
Favourites
Defending singles champions Novak Djokovic (male) and Swiatek (female) are the favorites to win this year's French Open titles.
Aryna Sabalenka, who is placed second on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, is expected to mount a serious challenge for the women's singles title.
Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev, who is placed fourth on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, is a strong contender for the men's singles title.
What Is At Stake
The men's and women's singles champions in the 2024 French Open will each receive €2.4 million and the finalists will earn €1,200,000.
The winner of the men's singles will receive a trophy called the Coupe des Mousquetaires (The Musketeers' Cup) while the women's champion gets the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen (Suzanne Lenglen Cup).

"It's very hard to play against such a good friend. Hubi, I've known him for quite a few years," Dimitrov said after defeating his good friend Hubert Hurkacz 7-6(5), 6-4, 7-6(3) to reach the quarter-finals.
"We practise a lot, we've shared quite a few moments together and I knew this was going to be a difficult match, but I knew also that I had to fight a lot… I always wanted to get to that second week.
"Roland-Garros was the only Slam that I felt like I could never get that extra step, but today, 15 years later, I made it so I'm very happy with that.”
