Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers will renew their Midlands rivalry with a
Premier League clash at Villa Park in Birmingham on Saturday 6 March, kick-off at 19:30. The match is one of 10 for Round 27 of England’s top flight, spread from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 March 2021.
Villa will return to their home ground after away games against Leeds United and Sheffield United in the past week. The Lions’ will be hoping for better fortune in Birmingham after a 2-1 loss to Leicester City in their last home game.
“No, we're not [looking at the log]. We can't afford to,” said Villa boss Dean Smith after the weekend’s win away to Leeds United. “We just need to concentrate [on our next game]. We've been doing ever so well on the road. I'd like us to be a little bit tidier on the ball when we can but we had to give up some of the ball today because it wasn't the type of pitch to build up and give Leeds - the way they play - an opportunity to win the ball back in our half.”

Wolverhampton have seen an upturn in their form in the Premier League in the past couple of weeks, though the amount of ground they need to make up on the top six makes a European place highly unlikely.
Nonetheless, manager Nuno Espirito Santo has called on his team to show greater consistency and lift their performance level as the season enters the final stretch: This is what we expect as the expectations are really high. We have talented players and we have to improve them. We are working very hard on that,” said the Portuguese.

In head-to-head stats, Villa and Wolverhampton have met in 129 matches across all competitions since their first clash in 1886. The Lions have claimed 56 wins compared to 41 for Wolves, while 32 games have been drawn.
When the teams met earlier this season, at Molineux Stadium in December 2020, Villa claimed a 1-0 away win thanks to a late penalty from Anwar El Ghazi.
