2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 27
Bournemouth v Liverpool
Vitality Stadium
Bournemouth, England
Saturday, 11 March 2023
Kick-off is at 14h30
Liverpool will be looking to build on their second-biggest win of the season when they travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, March 11.
The Reds put on a show in the second half to trash Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield last Sunday, which extended their unbeaten run in the
Premier League to five matches.
Jurgen Klopp's side moved up to fifth in the standings and find themselves just three points adrift of the top four with a game in hand on Tottenham (4th).
Newcastle dropped to sixth place after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last Saturday continued their poor run of form, leaving them winless in five outings.
Spurs failed to make up ground on the Red Devils (3rd) following a 1-0 reverse to Wolves and the north Londoners are in danger of dropping out of the Champions League spots once more.
The Cherries prop up the table after they squandered a two-goal lead against league leaders Arsenal to lose 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday.
Gary O'Neil's team have now lost three of their last five matches and saw Southampton overtake them into 19th position courtesy of a 1-0 home victory over Leicester.
Everton (18th) and Leeds (17th) are just one point better off than the bottom two on 22 apiece, while West Ham (16th) on 23 and Leicester (15th) on 24 could also get sucked into the relegation mire.
Philip Billing became Bournemouth's top scorer for the season with his first-minute opener against the Gunners, which put him on five goals. It was the Danish midfielder's first goal in 10 games and O'Neil needs more from him in the final 13 matches if the club wants to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Mohamed Salah overtook Robbie Fowler as Liverpool's all-time leading scorer in the top flight after notching his 129th goal against United. The Egypt international has been well below his best for the Merseyside giants this term but has still managed 11 goals and seven assists in 25 league appearances.

In team news, the hosts continue to be without a whole host of players, with David Brooks, Marcus Tavernier (both thigh), Lloyd Kelly (calf), Illia Zabarnyi (ankle), Matias Vina (knee), Jefferson Lerma, Hamed Traore (both muscular) and Junior Stanislas all missing the visit of the Reds. Calvin Ramsay, Luis Diaz (both knee), Thiago Alcantara (groin), Naby Keita (muscular), Joe Gomez and Arthur Melo remain unavailable to Klopp.
O'Neil admits the last-gasp loss to Arsenal will leave his players "devastated" but he's backing them to put in another big shift against the Reds.
"To suffer a 3-2 loss in the nature that we did is very disappointing, but I'm sure when the dust settles and we look at it as a whole, to take Arsenal that far with the type of form they're in and the team they are, and where we are and where we've been for the last few years, it was a big effort from everyone," he said.
"The boys will be devastated, as am I, for the next few hours or maybe slightly longer. But Liverpool come next week and we'll be ready."
Klopp is hoping the result against United will restore some much-need confidence in the team but acknowledges they cannot afford to take the Cherries lightly.
"We saw what a positive result can do to the boys. We were 7-0 up, somebody played a ball to Luke Shaw, back pass, and we chased him with four players and then you think, 'What are we doing here?' How much adrenaline it gives you and how much positivity it gives you," he said.
"Now we have five days or so of time to prepare for Bournemouth; they were unlucky yesterday against Arsenal not to get a point at least. We have to make sure we are ready for that fight."
