The 2022
Australian Grand Prix or Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be staged on an Australian island called Phillip Island on October 16.
This will be the 18th round of this year's Championship and it will take place at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, and the last time the Australian MotoGP took place was in 2019.
The race was won by Honda's Marc Marquez with Cal Crutchlow of Honda and Ducati rider Jack Miller finishing second and third respectively in Australia.
The most recent race in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship campaign was the Thailand MotoGP which took place on October 2.
Miguel Oliveira won the Thailand MotoGP and it is the KTM rider's second win of the current season having won the Indonesian Grand Prix on March 20.
Miller finished second as Ducati enjoyed a successful weekend in Thailand with his teammate Francesco Bagnaia securing a third-place finish.
Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Fabio Quartararo remains at the top of the table with 219 points as the Yamaha rider looks to successfully retain his MotoGP world title.
While Bagnaia and Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro are placed second and third on the standings with 217 points and 199 points respectively as they look to beat Quartararo to the championship.

“It was definitely a difficult race from a mental point of view. Every wet race is difficult because a mistake at least costs you quite a lot and you can crash. So, I was definitely comfortable but not too comfortable," Oliveira said after winning the Thailand MotoGP.
“I think Jack also put on a lot of pressure and pulled away at the beginning of the race, and made me always in attack mode until the last lap. I think that was good because I could never be relaxed. So, it was definitely good.
"The beginning of the race was hard for all of us because we couldn’t see that much in the straights and there was a bit of aquaplaning. “But it was good, can’t complain about winning in the wet again.”
Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Aprilia and Yamaha respectively.
