Matchday 10
Barcelona vs Sevilla

Catalonia, Spain

Kick-off is at 21h00

As the pace setters during the early stages of the 2024/25 LaLiga season, Barcelona will be without one of their key figures when they take on Sevilla in matchday 10 at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium Sunday.

Now under the tutelage of Hansi Flick, Barcelona began the current league campaign in blistering form. The Catalan giants have managed to record eight wins in nine matches played so far and currently occupy top spot on the table.

Barcelona’s only blip in form came in the form of a 4-2 defeat against Osasuna in matchday eight, however, Flick’s charges bounced back swiftly thereafter and go into their next game on the back of a 3-0 win against Alavez on away soil.

Sevilla on the other hand, have battled to maintain consistent form this season, recording three wins, three draws and three defeats after nine matches played.

However, Garcia Pieminta’s side are currently on a three-match unbeaten streak, bagging two wins and a draw during this period.

Sevilla last tasted defeat on the 20th of September, where they recorded a 2-1 loss against Alaves at Estadio de Mendizorroza on gameweek six.

In rather disappointing news for all Barcelona fans, the club recently confirmed that Lamin Yamal will be out of action for the foreseeable future after the 17-year-old picked up an injury while on duty for Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

“The teenager picked up the problem while playing for Spain in the UEFA Nations League,” Barcelona confirmed on their official website.

“He was able to play all 91 minutes of the game with Denmark at the Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcua, but felt something was wrong as he left the pitch.

“A regular first team choice under Hansi Flick, he has played 11 games and scored 5 goals in the FC Barcelona attack this season.”

Sevilla head coach García Pimienta lauded his side’s ability to keep a clean sheet during their recent 1-0 win against Real Betis and that he expects a high level of defensive commitment going forward.

"We need to continue keeping clean sheets. Sometimes you suffer but we made a team like Betis generate very few scoring chances,” Pimienta said, as per the Sevilla official website.

“If we are solid and competitive, we will play well and we have quality players. Everything depends on our defensive commitment. It's a relentless commitment. This is the way forward.”
