Miami Heat will be looking to cause an upset by defeating the favourites Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals.

The Heat are making their seventh appearance in the Finals having won the championship three times in 2006, 2012 and 2013.

They clinched their first playoff berth since the 2017/18 season in June 2020, before the season was resumed in July 2020 following a break which was enforced by the coronavirus pandemic.

Jimmy Butler, the Heat small forward, feels that they are likely to play their best basketball in the NBA Finals against the Lakers.

“I don’t look at 5 seed or 1 seed. It’s all about who is playing the best basketball at the right time,” Butler said.

“I feel like we’re still yet to play our absolute best basketball, but, along the way, we realize what we have to do moving forward.”

Before play resumed in the bio-bubble, the Heat clinched their first Southeast Division title since 2017.

They earned the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference after missing the playoffs the previous season.

Before defeating the third seed Boston Celtics in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

They will look to their key player Butler, who is a five-time NBA All-Star, a four-time NBA All-Defensive Team honoree, and a three-time All-NBA Team honoree.

The 31-year-old scooped the Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference and he will be keen to lead his side to a series victory over the Lakers.
