Ferrari will look for a strong showing on home soil when the Formula 1 World Championship hosts Round 14, the Italian Grand Prix, at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on the afternoon of Sunday 12 September 2021.
The ‘Scuderia’ come to Monza on the back of a positive weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix, with drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr coming home in fifth and seventh place respectively. The strong points haul saw Ferrari overtake McLaren-Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship: the Italian team moved into third spot on 181.5 points, with the British outfit back in fourth on 170.

Ferrari are the most successful team in Italian Grand Prix history, claiming 21 race wins overall (their nearest chasers are Mercedes, with 14 victories). The Scuderia took the chequered flag at this event in 2019 thanks to a great drive from Charles Leclerc, with the Monegasque hoping that they would receive similarly passionate support as Max Verstappen did at his home race.
“Monza is always special for the drivers and teams. Especially for us, it’s our home race. It will be difficult to repeat the success of 2019, but the support of the crowd will certainly give a great feeling. I hope for a similar enthusiasm as we saw this weekend for Max,” said Leclerc.

Sainz, meanwhile, said he struggled for pace and is hoping for an improvement at Monza: "Really I was struggling a lot with the front and tyres. I was degrading the tyres, it felt like I was sliding a lot and I couldn’t match the pace I had on Friday," said the Spaniard.
“This means we need to look into what went wrong because I have never felt so slow in a race, to be honest. I was struggling a lot and had no pace whatsoever. I was looking forward to battling for the top five, and [instead] I was defending for the top 10.”
