Villarreal CF will lock horns with Elche CF in a
Spanish La Liga match at the Estadio de la Cerámica on September 22.
The Yellow Submarine were held to a 0-0 draw by Real Mallorca away in their most recent league game which was played on September 19.
The defeat extended Villarreal's winless run to five matches in this competition having registered four consecutive draws and one defeat.

However, the Yellow Submarine are undefeated in their two home matches in La Liga having recorded one draw and one victory.
“All of the teams work hard. We’ve lost to big names in La Liga, but there is still a high level and it’s hard to beat anyone," Villarreal manager Unai Emery said after their draw against Mallorca.
"Football is like that and we need to improve. The first analysis that I have is that we need to improve certain things and I am going to be self-critical. We need to look for something else that, at the moment, isn’t there.
"Each player has their own characteristics and brings something different to the team. We need to be clinical with the chances we have.”

Meanwhile, Elche were held to a 1-1 draw by Levante at home in their last league match that was played on September 18.
The Green Stripped Ones' are now undefeated in their last three matches in this competition having recorded two draws and one win.
Elche have won two of their last three matches on the road in La Liga, while the other game ended in a win.
The last meeting between Villarreal and Elche in a league match was on 6 February 2021.
The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in an encounter that was played at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.
