The
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 248 is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, USA on Saturday.
A middleweight championship bout between the current champion Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero will headline the event.
Nigerian fighter Adesanya is looking to successfully defend his title for the first time having won it at UFC 243 after defeating American Robert Whittaker.
His opponent Romero is a former interim title challenger and he is also a 2000 Olympic silver medalist and former world champion in freestyle wrestling.
Adesanya, who was born in Nigeria and raised in New Zealand, has fired a warning to Romero.
“The guy that everyone’s scared of… I don’t have fear. Fear is different from danger," Adesanya said ahead of the title fight.
"I’m a dangerous man. A lot of people fear him because of what they’ve been told or what they’ve seen in the media.”
Meanwhile, a women's strawweight championship bout between the current champion Zhang Weili and Joanna Jędrzejczyk is the co-main event this weekend.
Chinese fighter Weili will be defending her title for the first time having won it at UFC Fight Night: Andrade vs Zhang after defeating Brazilian Jessica Andrade.
Polish fighter Jędrzejczyk is a former women's strawweight champion having held the title between March 2015 and November 2017.
A middleweight bout between American Derek Brunson and his countryman Edmen Shahbazyan was scheduled to take place in Nevada.
However, the bout has since been moved to UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs Harris which will take place in April 2020.
