2019 MotoGP season, Round 3
Grand Prix of the Americas
Circuit of the Americas, Austin, Texas
Sunday 14 April
Alex Rins will look to continue his impressive form in the
2019 MotoGP season when the Grand Prix of the Americas is held in Austin, Texas on Sunday 14 April.
The Suzuki rider has punched above his weight thus far in the championship, coming home in fourth and fifth in the races in Qatar and Argentina respectively. This sees him placed an impressive fourth on the drivers’ standings, with only Marc Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi ahead of him.
In his race to be the ‘best of the rest’, the 23-year-old will be challenged by the likes of Danilo Petrucci (Ducati), Maverick Vinales (Yamaha), independent Honda riders Cal Crutchlow and Takaaki Nakagami, Jack Miller (independent Ducati) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia).
Vinales will be a particular threat, with the Yamaha man more than capable of matching pace with the top riders, even if he doesn’t quite have their race craft in his arsenal.
In addition, factory Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo has struggled thus far but should be able to find his form after addition time to sort out his injury issues, and he could be a major threat for the top four to six positions.
