The 2022
Valero Texas Open, which is its 100th anniversary, is set to be played at the AT&T Oaks Course in San Antonio, Texas, the USA between 31 March and 3 April.
Established in 1922, when it was first called the Texas Open and it is currently sponsored by San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation which took over naming rights in 2002.
The event is the sixth oldest professional golf tournament worldwide, the third oldest on the PGA Tour and the longest held in the same city. The 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Jordan Spieth is the defending champion having won the Valero Texas Open trophy last year with rounds of 67-70-67-66, beating Charley Hoffman by two strokes.
This year's tournament field is headlined by the likes of Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama and Bryson DeChambeau.
There will be 144 players on the field and the event is set to be played out over four days, with this event marking the 24th tournament of the 2021-22 PGA Tour schedule.
Former winners of the Valero Texas Open, Jimmy Walker, Martin Laird, Charley Hoffman, Andrew Landry, Corey Conners, Brendan Steele and Kevin Chappell will also be part of the field.

Scheffler and Abraham Ancer, both born in Texas, will be in San Antonio to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Valero Texas Open.
“These early commitments from a pair of young, world-class players is another boost to the field as we prepare to host a Texas-sized centennial celebration this spring,” said Larson Segerdahl, Executive Director of the Valero Texas Open.
“And we believe that this is only the beginning of what will be an incredibly strong and exciting field come tournament week.”
Arnold Palmer and Justin Leonard are the most successful golfers in the history of the Valero Texas Open having won the tournament a record three times.
