Rafael Nadal will go in search of a fourth US Open title when the 2019 edition is held at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City from 26 August to 8 September.
Nadal’s three previous triumphs at Flushing Meadows arrived in 2010, 2013 and 2017, while last year he got as far as the semifinal before retiring due to injury against Juan Martin del Potro.
Should the Spanish tennis legend go all the way in the US Open this year he will join John McEnroe as a four-time champion of the tournament in the Open era.
Nadal’s Grand Slam performances this year have seen him end as runner-up at the Australian Open, claim yet another French Open title and reach the semifinals of Wimbledon.
His main rivals for the title will be fellow veterans Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, while the likes of Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev will also look to make their mark at the final Grand Slam of the calendar year.
