2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 1
Fulham v Liverpool
Craven Cottage
London, England
Saturday, 6 August 2022
Kick-off is at 13h30
Liverpool will continue their intense rivalry with Manchester City when they welcome newly-promoted Fulham to Anfield on the opening weekend of the 2022/23
Premier League season.
The FA Cup holders claimed their first trophy of the new campaign when they beat Premier League champions City 3-1 in the Community Shield last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp's side will now look to make a winning start in the league against the Cottagers, who gained promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt by winning the Championship.
The west Londoners' last stint in the Premier League saw them go undefeated against the Reds, having recorded a shock 1-0 victory on Merseyside in March 2021 after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw three months prior in the English capital.
That stalemate in December 2020 halted a six-match losing streak against Liverpool in the league, and Marco Silva will attempt to make it three games unbeaten by causing another upset on Saturday at Craven Cottage.

Fulham wrapped up their pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Villarreal, with Silva admitting there were plenty of positives to take from the performance ahead of their clash with the Reds.
"We finished our pre-season against a Champions League team and we knew the quality they'd have on the ball," the Portuguese tactician said. "We had some good moments, but we didn't finish the way we should have but that's part of the process and we'll keep working on it.
"Losing 1-0 at half time was an unfair result for us to be fair. We lacked a bit of the intensity I like to see in the second half but we believed until the end that we could change the scoreline. It was a good game against a good side and we've taken lots of positives from it."

Klopp acknowledges that a lot of hard work lies ahead in the coming weeks as Liverpool look to get into a rhythm of playing three times a week again.
"I know we have to work. We said it before, we have to extend our pre-season at least for two more weeks. There's no other chance," the German said.
"We cannot just now go in the normal rhythm, play games at the weekend that we are not prepared for. Then three games a week which we will have from, I don't know exactly, from three or four weeks."
