2023/24 Italian Serie A
Matchday 1
Udinese Calcio v Juventus FC
Dacia Arena
Udine, Italy
Sunday, 20 August 2023
Kick-off is at 20h45
Juventus FC will be targeting nothing but a win when they face Udinese Calcio in a
Serie A match at the Dacia Arena on 20 August.
Current Form
The White and Blacks lost 1-0 to Juventus away on June 4 in their final game of the 2022/23 Serie A term and they are winless in their last four matches in the competition.
Udinese are also winless in their last two home matches in the league having recorded two consecutive defeats at the Dacia Arena.
Meanwhile, Juventus snapped their two-match winless run in Serie A when they wrapped last season with a victory over Udinese.
The Old Lady have won two of their last three away matches in the league while the other game ended in a defeat to Empoli FC as the visitors.
Team News
Udinese have snapped up Oier Zarraga, Etienne Camara and Marley Aké on loan from Juventus, but the club sold one of its key players Rodrigo Becão to Turkey's Fenerbahce.
Juventus, on the other hand, recalled Andrea Cambiaso and Weston McKennie from loan before signing Timothy Weah, but Juan Cuadrado and Ángel Di María have left the club.
Quotes
"It was a good test against a strong team. We played well in the first half and had good chances," Massimiliano Allegri said after his side's draw against Atalanta BC in a friendly game on August 12.
"but we have to make the most of them. Then we got a bit tired in the second half but we kept going. We're working well, tonight Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic looked good, but we're only at the beginning.
"We'll have to see if only having one game a week will play in our favour, we're not used to it. We'll have to start by thinking about one game at a time. I'm happy with the squad I have, with the whole group."
Head-to-Head
Juventus are undefeated against Udinese in their last six matches in the Serie A.
The Old Lady have recorded five wins and one draw against the White and Blacks whose last victory over Juventus came on 23 July 2020.
