Huesca vs Barcelona

Barcelona will look to avoid another away banana skin when they tackle Huesca at Estadio El Alcoraz on the evening of Sunday 3 January 2021, kick-off at 22:00. The match is one of 10 spread over 2-4 January as part of Matchday 17 in the 2020-21 LaLiga season.

Huesca's last home outing saw them held 1-1 by Levante on December 22, with Javi Ontiveros netting a first-half penalty which was later cancelled out by Julian Melero. The result kept Huesca firmly in the relegation zone.

"We are in a difficult moment, there is no doubt about it," said Huesca's under-fire manager Michel. "I have faith in the players to do their work and we must focus on achieving our results. It will be a tough road for us, but we must never give up and keep fighting with determination."

Barcelona's last away game brought them a 3-0 win at Real Valladolid on December 22, with Clement Lenglet, Martin Braithwaite and Lionel Messi scoring goals to see their team well in the race for a top-four finish, but looking short of title-challenging form.

"At a club like Barca you have to win things. I think our ultimate purpose is to win games and trophies. You get no prizes for finishing fourth, you need to be first," said manager Ronald Koeman. "That’s the mentality that this team must have, we can't settle for anything less.”

In head-to-head stats, Huesca and Barcelona have met in four matches across all competitions since 2014. The Blaugrana boast an unbeaten record, with three wins and one draw.

The teams last met in LaLiga in the 2018-19 season: Barca humiliated Huesca 8-2 at the Camp Nou in September 2018, but the return game at El Alcoraz in April 2019 ended in a goalless stalemate. Barca also racked up a 12-1 aggregate win when the clubs met in the Copa del Rey in late 2014.
