The Celtics find themselves in mid-table in the Eastern Conference after a middling campaign thus far, with this past weekend seeing them defeated 111-107 by the Golden State Warriors. Jayson Tatum scored 27 points, and Jaylen Brown had 20 points for the Celtics, who placed five players in the Covid-19 protocol in the 24 hours leading up to the game.

"The second quarter where we gave them four points, that was kind of a gut punch," Tatum said.
The Magic have had a really tough season thus far and find themselves scrapping against the Detroit Pistons to avoid the wooden spoon in the Eastern Conference. This past weekend brought another disappointing defeat, as they were beaten 115-105 at home by their Florida rivals, the Miami Heat.
Orlando was not helped by having multiple injuries and players unavailable due to Covid protocols. They even had to sign four players from their G League franchise in nearby Lakeland to meet minimum player requirements: Aleem Ford, Admiral Schofield, B.J. Johnson and Hassani Gravett.

"I absolutely love our team's effort," Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said, keeping up a fighting attitude even in the midst of their strife. "I love the way they played, I love the way they competed and the way they battled until the end."
In head-to-head stats, the Celtics and the Magic have met in 121 Regular Season games since 1989-90, with Boston claiming 70 wins compared to 51 for Orlando. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in November 2021, with the Celtic winning 92-79 away thanks to 28 points from Jaylen Brown. It was a seventh successive victory over the Magic for Boston.
