The Qatar Grand Prix was won by Lewis Hamilton and it was his second successive win in the current FIA Formula One World Championship campaign.
Perez's teammate Max Verstappen finished second at the Qatar Grand Prix, while Fernando Alonso of Alpine-Renault secured a third place finish.
Verstappen is still at the top of the 2021 Drivers' Championship standings and he is followed by Mercedes duo of Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas respectively.
Perez is now 13 points behind third-placed Bottas, who was forced to retire at the Qatar Grand Prix and the two drivers are battling for the third spot with two races left.

“I think we had the podium pretty much in the pocket,” Perez said as he reflected on the Qatar Grand Prix.
“I think the Virtual Safety Car… I don’t know if that would have been enough to prevent us from getting Fernando at the end, but it’s a bit of a shame. We managed to minimise a bit the damage, but I think we should have been on the podium.
"Unfortunately, it didn't work out. We were changing it [strategy] throughout the race – at some point we were going for one stop, then two, then one. It wasn't very clear."
Mercedes are placed at the top of the Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Red Bull Racing-Honda and McLaren-Mercedes respectively.
