2023 Grant Thornton Invitational trophy.
What to know about Thompson and Fowler
Thompson is an 11-time LPGA Tour winner and two-time Olympian. The American star became the seventh woman to play on the PGA Tour when she played in the Shriners Children's Open. She shot 73-69 to miss the cut by two strokes.
Her teammate and compatriot, Fowler is one of only three golfers to shoot 62 in a major championship, achieving the feat at the 2023 US Open, played at the Los Angeles Country Club. He has won 10 professional tournaments.

Ranked 31st in the Women's World Golf Rankings, Thompson has been out of action since she participated in The Annika where she finished seventh last month.
While Fowler participated in the recent Hero World Challenge where he finished 17th and he is ranked 24th on the Official World Golf Rankings.
Why Thompson and Fowler could win the event
Thompson, 28, and Fowler, 34, have a combined 17 career titles as professionals. Their winning experience could be key to them clinching the Grant Thornton Invitational.
Thompson has played on six US Solheim Cup teams, including this year. Fowler has five Ryder Cup appearances, including this year, and played in one Olympics.

“It’s just nice to have this one out of the way,” Fowler said after winning for the first time in four years at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
“I’m obviously going to soak this one in and celebrate a bit. I knew it was just a matter of time with how I’ve been playing.
“I’ve had a couple of tough weekends where I had a chance.”
