The Trail Blazers find themselves in the lower reaches of the Western Conference standings, scrapping with the likes of the New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder. This past weekend they had the misfortune of running into an angry LeBron James, who scored 43-points to help the Los Angeles Lakers claim a crushing 139-106 win over Portland.

"I don't think we played with enough force. They dictated the start," said Portland assistant coach Scott Brooks, who was at the helm of the team while head coach Chauncey Billups was in the league's Covid-19 protocols. "They were attacking on both ends of the floor and we were back on our heels. You can't do that against good teams. We gave them too much respect."
The Cavaliers find themselves just outside the upper reaches of the Eastern Conference standings, though this weekend saw them beaten 121-118 at home by the Atlanta Hawks, as they continue to fall just short of the standard needed to catch up with the likes of the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls.

"We were complacent because we had a lead, but you have to understand they've got winners over there who just went to the Eastern Conference finals," Cleveland coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "We let our guard down and it came back to bite us."
In head-to-head stats, the Trail Blazers and the Cavaliers have met in 127 Regular Season games since 1970-71, with Portland claiming 72 wins compared to 55 for Cleveland. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in November 2021, with the Cavaliers winning 107-104 away thanks to 24 points from Jarrett Allen.
