World No.3 Alexander Zverev will be targeting his first Gland Slam title when the
Australian Open gets underway on January 17.
The German has 19 singles titles to his name, but has yet to win one of the four major tournaments on the ATP Tour circuit.
Zverev did reach the US Open final in 2020, only to be defeated by Dominic Thiem in five sets after squandering a two-set lead.
The 24-year-old won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when he beat Karen Khachanov in straight sets in the final, having also triumphed over Novak Djokovic in the semis.
After reaching six finals and winning the same number of titles in 2021, he has set himself a couple of big goals this year.
"I have made it my goal to emerge stronger from moments like this. If at the end of the day you don't believe in yourself, who is going to do it?," Zverev told ZDF.
"There are two that I haven't reached yet - to win Grand Slams and become number one in the world. I hope that all of this may already happen in Australia."
