Zambia faced off against Tanzania in their second group match last evening, and the game concluded with a 1-1 draw. Despite being favoured by many before the match, Zambia found themselves challenged by Tanzania, who proved to be a formidable opponent.
The Taifa Stars from Tanzania took an early lead in the 11th minute, with Simon Msuva scoring a goal assisted by Mbwana Samatta. Zambia's situation became more difficult when their captain, Rodrick Kabwe, received a second yellow card just before halftime, leaving them with only ten players on the field.
However, despite being a man down, Chipolopolo showed resilience, and in the 88th minute, Patson Daka scored a header assisted by Clatous Chama, leveling the score.
The drawn match means that Tanzania is still seeking their first-ever
AFCON win after eight attempts. Currently at the bottom of Group F, Tanzania will face DR Congo in their final group stage match, while Zambia sits in third place. DR Congo is in second place, and Morocco leads the group.
Zambia now faces a crucial match against Morocco on Wedensday, where a victory is likely required for them to progress to the knockout stage after this dramatic stalemate.
Looking ahead, DR Congo will play against Tanzania at 8 pm CAT, and Zambia will face Morocco at 10 pm on Wednesday. The outcome of these matches will determine the final standings in Group F and which teams will advance to the next stage of the tournament.
