What to know about Vingegaard
The Danish cyclist impressed at the Tour de Pologne and rode as a domestique for Primož Roglič at the Vuelta a España in 2019 after joining Jumbo-Visma.
In the 2022 Tour de France, Vingegaard was a favourite for the GC together with Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates and the former went on to win the title.
Why Vingegaard is among the favourites
The 26-year-old remains the most consistent performer at the 2023 Tour de France hence he is placed at the top of the General Classification (Yellow Jersey) standings.
Vingegaard has been placed at the top of the standings since stage six and he will be crowned champion if he maintains his lead in the last six stages.
The Hillerslev-born star holds 10-second advantage over Pogacar who is a two-time winner of the Tour de France.

Vingegaard was asked about the ever-increasing speeds on the Tour’s major climbs after stage 15 of the 2023 Tour de France on June 16 and he said: “We have to be sceptical because of what happened in the past.
"Otherwise it would just happen again.I fully understand all the questions we get about it, the only thing I can say is I am not taking anything.
"To be honest, I am happy there is a bit of scepticism about it. We are going faster, quicker than back then, maybe. And also the food, material, training, everything is different.”
