Ethiopia will square off with Egypt in a 2023
Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Bingu National Stadium on June 9.
Walia Ibex were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Malawi away in their last competitive match which was the 2023 AFCON qualifier on June 5.
Therefore, Ethiopia are winless in their last eight competitive matches having recorded five defeats and three draws.
The East African side is winless in their last two home matches in the AFCON qualifiers having recorded two consecutive defeats.
Meanwhile, Egypt secured a slender 1-0 win over Guinea at home in their last competitive game which was the 2023 AFCON qualifier on June 5.
The Pharaohs have won two of their last three competitive games while the other match ended in a defeat to Senegal before they faced Guinea.
Egypt are unbeaten in their last five matches on the road in the AFCON qualifiers having registered two wins and three draws as the visitors.

“I thank the fans and the media for their support," Egypt head coach Ehab Galal said after their win over Guinea.
"I was confident about winning and I was surprised at half-time that we weren’t leading, preferred not to change the way we play to maintain the adaptability.
I thank the players for what they have done. “The team was doing well in the last period; therefore, I said I wouldn’t change the way of playing or the first-team squad."
The last meeting between Ethiopia and Egypt was on 8 August 2002.
The Pharaohs emerged 4-1 winners over Walia Ibex in an international friendly match which was played at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
