The South African rider came very close to starting the new campaign with a victory as he finished second at the Qatar Grand Prix on March 6.
Binder went into the race having qualified seventh on Saturday, which is one of the best qualifying performances in his MotoGP career thus far.

Ducati rider Enea Bastianini won the 2022 Qatar Grand Prix as he made history by winning with a 2021 specification Ducati Desmosedici GP21.
While Honda rider Pol Espargaró finished third as he was beaten to the line by only Bastianini and Binder in a captivating race in Lusail.
As a result, Bastianini is sitting at the top of the Riders' standings, while Espargaró finds himself in third place on the table.
Binder is placed second on the Riders' standings and he will climb to the top of the table if he wins the Indonesian Grand Prix.

"It was a great day; actually, all weekend was great. To top the timesheets in FP1 on Friday was a bit of a shock," Binder said after the 2022 Qatar Grand Prix.
"So I knew we were at a really good level. That being said, we had some issues over the weekend, but honestly, I felt so good and had so much confidence in the bike from beginning to end.
"I just need to say a massive thank you to KTM, they pulled this one out of the bag, and we have made such a huge step forward from where we finished last year; for us to be on the podium in Qatar is insane," he added.
"This race last year was honestly the hardest race of the year, so I am really, really happy with the way things went. I am certainly looking forward to a few more podiums this year."
Ducati are placed at the top of Manufacturers' Championship standings and they are followed by KTM and Honda respectively.
