2022/23 Italian Serie A
Matchday 27
SS Lazio v AS Roma
Stadio Olimpico
Spezia, Italy
Sunday, 19 March 2023
Kick-off is at 19h00
SS Lazio will square off with AS Roma in an
Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico on March 19.
Current Form
The Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw by Bologna FC away on March 11 as they extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the league.
Lazio defeated UC Sampdoria in their last game at home and the win ended their two-match winless run at the Stadio Olimpico.
While Roma succumbed to a 4-3 defeat to US Sassuolo at home on March 12 and it was their second defeat in their last three matches in Serie A.
The Yellow and Reds are winless in their last three matches on the road having registered one draw and two defeats as the visitors.
What Is At Stake
Lazio are competing for a top three finish in the Serie A this season as they are placed third on the standings - a point behind second-placed Inter Milan.
Maurizio Sarri's side will move up to the second spot if they beat Roma and Inter drop points against Juventus FC on March 19.
Roma are placed fifth on the league standings and a win over Lazio would see the Yellow, and Reds climb into the top four if the other results go their way.
Team News
Ciro Immobile is an injury doubt ahead of the Derby della Capitale as the Lazio striker is nursing a Biceps femoris muscle injury, while his teammate Matías Vecino is suspended.
On the other hand, Roma players Ebrima Darboe, Ola Solbakken, Lorenzo Pellegrini ,Andrea Belotti and Diego Llorente are all out injured, but the club has no suspension worries.
Key Players
With Immobile an injury doubt, Lazio will look to goalscoring midfielder Mattia Zaccagni who has hit the back of the net eight times in the current season.
While Roma's top scorer in the current season Paulo Dybala grabbed his ninth league of the season against Sassuolo and the Argentine forward will be keen to inspire his side to a win over Lazio.

Quotes
“We played with focus, good football for 80 metres of the pitch, not so much in the final third, but we were against a Bologna side during a very positive period of form," Sarri said after their draw against Bologna.
“If Ciro Immobile had been able to play regularly, we'd have an extra 18-19 goals. It's not as if we are not having shots on goal, we created the chances and did so again this evening.
"There were also some situations where we didn't get a shot away and that was just shameful. I hope there is always something missing, because the reason to be a coach is to be motivated to seek perfection. It's better if the objective is utopia, because that leaves fuel in the tank."
Head-to-Head
Lazio edged out Roma 1-0 in their last meeting in the league which was on 6 November 2022 at the Stadio Olimpico.
As a result, the Eagles have won two of their last three league matches against the Yellow and Reds who won the other game.
