2022/23 Italian Serie A

Matchday 28

SSC Napoli v AC Milan

Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Naples, Italy
Sunday, 2 April 2023
Kick-off is at 20h45

SSC Napoli will square off with AC Milan in an Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on April 2.

Current Form

The Little Donkey hammered Torino FC 4-0 at home on March 19 and they are undefeated in their last two league games which they both won.

Napoli have won two of their last three matches at home, while the other game ended in a defeat to SS Lazio at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

While Milan suffered a 3-1 defeat to Udinese away on March 18 as they extended their winless run to three matches in Serie A.

Rossoneri are also winless in their last two matches on the road having recorded two consecutive defeats as the visitors.

What Is At Stake

Napoli are still sitting pretty at the top of the league standings - 19 points clear of second-placed Lazio with nine matches left.

Luciano Spalletti's side will be looking to take a step towards clinching the championship by defeating Milan who are the defending champions.

Milan are placed fourth on the league standings and a win over Napoli would see Rossoneri boost their ambitions of securing a top four finish this season.

Team News

Diego Demme, Davide Marfella and Bartosz Bereszynski are on Napoli's injury-list, but the club has no suspension concerns.

Milan also do not have suspension worries and Junior Messias is the only player on the club's injury-list having sustained a biceps femoris muscle injury.

Key Players

Victor Osimhen, who has scored twice in each of his last two competitive games for Napoli, will be determined to inspire the Little Donkeys to a win.

On the other hand, Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted Milan's consolation goal against Udinese and the veteran striker could be the player to propel Rossoneri to a win in Naples.

Quotes

"The players showed great hunger," Spalletti said after their win over Torino.

"Once again, I went to talk to the lads before the game afraid that there might be a bit of complacency,

"But once again they showed me they are cut from a different cloth. As the Naples saying goes: He who is hungry doesn't sleep."

Head-to-Head

Napoli claimed a 2-1 win over Milan in their last meeting in the league which was on 18 September 2022 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

As a result, the Little Donkeys have won three of their last four league matches against Rossoneri.
