The last meeting between the two teams in La Liga was on 6 November 2021 with Celta holding Barcelona to a 3-3 draw at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos.

Barcelona have been struggling at home, but they secured a 2-1 win over Real Mallorca in their last league match at Camp Nou which was played on May 1.

The victory ended Barca's two-match winless run at home in this competition having recorded two consecutive defeats before they hosted Mallorca.

Meanwhile, Celta have done well on the road lately having held Granada CF to a 1-1 draw in their last away La Liga match which took place on May 1.

Therefore, the Sky Blues are undefeated in their two matches on the road having recorded one draw and one win which came against Athletic Bilbao.

"We came here looking for the three points," Celta manager Eduardo Coudet said after theirdraw with Granada.

"We created four very clear chances in the first half and four or five very clear ones to finish off the game, but we paid the price again for the lack of effectiveness.

"Granada barely created chances and we paid the price for the lack of effectiveness. Two points dropped and we wanted to win in this difficult scenario and against a rival in need," he added.

"We did it all in order to claim a win and we deserved to take the three points, but the rival made it difficult and scored the goal because we didn't execute the game plan."
