Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen will look to put more pressure on Charles Leclerc of Ferrari in the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, May 8.

The reigning Formula One World Champion's title defence got off to a shaky start when he finished out of the points in 19th position in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

But Verstappen bounced back to win the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, although he was forced to retire in the Australian Grand Prix after a fuel issue caused a fire in his car on lap 39.

The Dutchman is second in the drivers' standings on 59 points and trails Leclerc by 27 after four rounds, having closed the gap on the current leader, who only finished sixth in Imola due to a driving error.

Verstappen is confident that Red Bull has rectified the fuel problems, but admits new complications could arise at the Miami International Autodrome as the circuit makes it's debut in F1.

"The problems came unexpectedly - but the team has proved in the past it can solve problems," the 24-year-old said. "And we needed this. I'd already retired twice in the first four races and you don't want that if you want to fight for the championship.

"We were really on top of it in Italy. The car was very good and we didn't make any mistakes. That was important. But there is still a big question mark for everyone in Miami.

"You can be completely right on one circuit and wrong again one week later. It's all about the details. As an example, the tyres are still sensitive. Ferrari were fast at Imola and Charles Leclerc initially drove with me during the sprint race on Saturday - but his tyres then got heavier.

"That's what happened to us in Melbourne. That's why Miami will be a big question mark for everyone."
