2019 China Open
ATP & WTA Tours
Finals (both): Sunday 6 October
Andy Murray will look to continue his strong run at the
2019 ATP China Open in Beijing when he faces up to Dominic Thiem in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Murray has only recently returned from hip resurfacing surgery and at this event he has reached his first quarterfinal in a singles tournament since he underwent the procedure earlier in the year.
The veteran defeated US Open semifinalist Matteo Berrettini earlier in the week and then got the better of fellow Brit Cameron Norrie 7-6(6), 6-7(4), 6-1 to power into the final eight.

However, Thiem will represent a significant road block for Murray. The Austrian has thus far beaten Richard Gasquet and Zhanhg Zhizhen (both in straight sets), and as the top seed is one of the outright favourites to win the title in Beijing.
The winner between Murray and Thiem will advance to face either Italy’s Fabio Fognini or Russian Karen Khachanov in the first semifinal.
The other side of the draw features the likes of John Isner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sam Querrey and Alexander Zverev.
