2018/19 Premier League
Cardiff City vs Manchester United
Cardiff City Stadium, Wales
Saturday, December 22nd
Kick-off at 17:30 (5:30pm) GMT
Following the shocking if not surprising news that Jose Mourinho had been sacked by Manchester United after last week’s dismal display against bitter rivals Liverpool, the Red Devils were quick to replace him with one of their former strikers – the Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who takes charge on a temporary basis until the end of the current campaign.
His first test in charge will be at the home of his former employers during his only other managerial stint in the
English Premier League, Cardiff City. Solskjaer was at the helm of the Blue Birds for just 8 months as he could not prevent their eventual relegation back down to the Championship in 2014.
Can the boys in blue mastermind a first victory over the Reds since November 1960 or will it be a happy return to the dugout for the baby-faced assassin?

Neil Warnock’s side head into this fixture off the back off three successive victories in front of their home fans. Their most recent encounter ended in a 3-2 defeat at Watford although there were signs of a late fightback with 2 goals in the closing 10 minutes setting up a tense finale for the visitors.
Cardiff City recent results:
15/12/2018 – Watford 3-2 Cardiff
08/12/2018 – Cardiff 1-0 Southampton
04/12/2018 – West Ham 3-1 Cardiff
30/11/2018 – Cardiff 2-1 Wolves
Solskjaer’s first major task will be to attempt to plug a defence that has shipped a whopping 29 goals already in the league, only better than Burnley, Fulham, Southampton and this weekend’s opponents Cardiff, all of whom occupy places in the bottom five. Even 19
th placed Huddersfield have conceded less than United at this stage. With just two wins from their last eight in all competitions, the Red Devil faithful will be hopeful he can hit the ground running on Saturday.

05/12/2018 – Man United 2-2 Arsenal
Saturday’s affair will be the just the 30
th-ever meeting (and just the third in the Premier League) between the pair since they first clashed in the FA Cup back in 1922, which went the way of Cardiff City in an historical night at Old Trafford.
