2019-20 FA Cup

Semifinals
18-19 July 2020

Manchester United will look to claim a place in the FA Cup final when they face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 19 July 2020, kick-off at 19:00.

United view the FA Cup as a great chance to win their first silverware under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have thus far ousted Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers, Derby County and Norwich City.

The Red Devils have progressed strongly in the Premier League and look capable of claiming a top-four finish – though their opponents for this game, Chelsea, are one of their main rivals in this regard.

United stuttered somewhat early this week when they were held 2-2 at home by Southampton, with Solskjaer admitting that his team wasn’t quite at their best, particularly in conceding a last-gasp equaliser.

"You've just got to take it because we've won so many games that way ourselves. It's all part of the learning for this team to be sat there, really disappointed, after you think the three points are in the bag,” said the Norwegian manager.

"But probably we didn't deserve three points today. They played well. They're physical, very fit. We never got the rhythm in our passing, especially when we got to 2-1 but we created chances and played some fantastic football at times."

In head-to-head stats, Man United and Chelsea have met in 186 matches across all competitions. The Red Devils have claimed 81 wins compared to 54 for the Blues, while 51 games have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash in February which United won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire. The last FA Cup clash between the teams saw the Red Devils triumph 2-0 in London in a Fifth Round clash in February 2019, with strikes from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.
