2019 Formula 1 season, Round 8,
French Grand Prix
Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet
Sunday 23 June
Renault will look to take another step forward when Round 8 of the 2019 Formula 1 season sees the running of the French Grand Prix at Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet on Sunday 23 June.
The French team enjoyed their best outing of the campaign thus far when the picked up a double points finish at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal earlier this month.
Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg both finished ahead of Pierre Gasly’s Red Bull on legitimate pace – a promising sign for the yellow-clad team as they look to rise up the Constructors’ Championship standings following an indifferent start to the season.
Ricciardo’s season-high sixth place finish in Canada underlined his value to the team, and the Australian will be hoping for further progress in an effort to match the pace of his former employers Red Bull.
As for Hulkenberg, the German enjoyed his best race weekend since the opening round in Australia back in March and may have had the pace to outrun his teammate had Renault allowed the pair to race each other in the closing stages.
Renault are also sure to have strong support from the parochial French fans at Circuit Paul Ricard, as they aim to equal or better their 8-9 finish from the 2018 French Grand Prix.
