Italian giants Roma face a must-win clash in Group J of the UEFA Europa League when they tackle hosts Istanbul Basaksehir at the Fatih Terim Stadium on Thursday 28 November 2019, kick-off at 19:55. The match is one of 24 across the continent in Matchday 5 of the second-tier UEFA competition.
Roma come into the match placed third on the standings with five points – level with German club Borussia Monchengladbach (but ranked below on head-to-head record) and two points adrift of leaders Basaksehir.
The Serie A side has struggled for form of late and went down 2-1 away to Monchengladbach in their last Europa League clash earlier this month. Part of the problems for the team from the ‘Eternal City’ has been the misfiring form of striker Edin Dzeko, but manager Paulo Fonseca has backed the Bosnian to rediscover his scoring touch.

"It's a coincidence [Roma’s struggling form and Dzeko’s lack of scoring]. You must not only look at the goals, but his overall contribution to the team,” explained the Roma boss.
Basaksehir, as leaders of the group, know that a win will secure progression into the knockout phase and manager Okan Buruk will hope that the team continues in the same vein as their impressive 3-0 away win over Austria’s Wolfsberger in Graz earlier in the month.
Roma and Basaksehir met in a Group J clash back in September, with the Italian side claiming an emphatic 4-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to an own goal from Junior Caicara and strikes from Edin Dzeko, Nicolo Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert.
The other Group J match on Thursday night sees Wolfsberger host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Liebenaber Stadium.
