Marc Marquez will look to continue his recovery to full speed and fitness when the 2021 MotoGP World Championship holds Round 15, the Grand Prix of the Americas, at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on the evening of Sunday 3 October.
Marquez, who is still in the process of reaching full fitness after recovering from a career-threatening arm injury suffered in early 2020, has finished in second and fourth places in the past two rounds of the season. The six-time MotoGP World Champion appears to be finding speed and rhythm again.

In past, successive races without a win would have a disappointment for the Spanish star, but he acknowledges that both he and his Repsol Honda bike have some work to do if they are to match the speed of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Francesco Bagnaia (Lenovo Ducati), the pair currently fighting for the Riders’ title.
“When you are in a difficult situation you have to understand it and be realistic,” said Marquez. “You cannot chase ghosts, but you set goals that you can achieve, otherwise the level of frustration increases. That’s how competitions are, we need to keep improving: sometimes it was Honda that gave the title to me, and others it was I who gave it to her – we are a team.”

Marquez added, “The fourth place finish [at San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix] was more important than the second at Aragon, it has greater significance. My goal is to fight for the win and I’m still a long way off.
“[At San Marino] I couldn’t keep up with Quartararo, Bagnaia and Bastianini. I realise that on the one hand I need to improve physically, but also that our bike has some great weaknesses. I don’t just want to be the first Honda rider to cross the finish line, but to fight for the title and victories.”
