How is a truly great goal defined? Is it by the importance of the goal, the sheer individual quality or are the best goals those who involve more than one player - sometimes the whole team?
Each of us rate the greatness of a goal differently and we all have our own opinions about which goals deserve more praise than others, none of which are wrong. Some of us enjoy long range thunderbolts while others put more emphasis on the technically difficult goals like volleys or acrobatic finishes.
Since the inaugural season of the English Premier there has been close to 30,000 goals with Alan Shearer the all time top scorer. The former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United forward scored 260 goals in England's top-flight, but while he was a prolific goalscorer, he wasn't particularly known to score spectacular goals.
That mantle belonged to footballers like Tony Yeboah, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Matthew Le Tissier and of course Thierry Henry.
If you asked Arsenal fans what the greatest goal was in Premier League history they would be torn between Oliver Giroud's FIFA Puskas Award winning scorpion-kick against Crystal Palace, Jack Wilshere's incredible team goal versus Norwich City and most notable Dennis Bergkamp's goals against either Leicester City or Newcastle United.
Manchester Untied fans will argue that Wayne Rooney's overhead kick against fierce rivals Manchester City is more impressive while Luis Suarez's goal against Newcastle United will get Liverpool fans off their feet.

City supporters will swing towards the section of football fans who place more emphasis on the importance of a strike for it to be considered the best goal with Sergio Aguerooooo's stoppage-time winner to hand them the Premier League crown on the final day of the season (ahead of United) surely to be their pick.
One can also not look past Paolo Di Canio's incredible volley for West Ham United against Wimbledon, which was for a long-time considered the greatest goal in Premier League history. Former Magpies forward Papiss Cisse also deserves a mention for his audacious effort against Chelsea in which the ball swerved as if were controlled by a wand before cannoning into the back of the net.
All that considered, it becomes quite clear why it is so difficult to single out one single goal as the greatest of all-time. A fair way to do so though might be through a fan or journalist vote and while Mohamed Salah's Puskas Award winning goal was influenced in this fashion (he controversially won the award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale's overhead kicks), majority
usually rules.

Earlier this year,
Sky Sports asked fans to vote for the greatest Premier League goal of all time and while
Betway might have some objections, there is substantial evidence as to why Heung-min Son's solo goal against Burnley should best considered the
best of the best.
Rod Wallace's goal versus Tottenham Hotspur was long thought to be the best solo goal in Premier League history, but Son eradicated those memories for Spurs fans with a slalom run for the ages.
It might only have come last year (recency bias is a thing) but the South Korean impressed enough to top the polls by some margin. So more on the goal: Son picked the ball up well inside his own half before embarking on an incredible lung-busting run which took him past multiple players (virtually the whole Burnley team) and after running 71.4 metres in only 11 seconds he provided a finish to match. There you have it, the best Premier League goal
