MANCHESTER CITY VS EVERTON – ETIHAD STADIUM
The defending champions will be looking to bounce right back to winning ways following their first defeat of the campaign at Chelsea last time out. This weekend’s test pits them against another team in blue, Everton, who are seeking their first win in their last four in the division.
The Toffees have not tasted success at City since a 2-1 win in December 2010, a run of eight successive matches in all competitions although the last three league encounters at the Etihad between the pair ended all square.
Raheem Sterling salvaged a point for City in the corresponding fixture last season after former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney had put the visitors ahead in the first-half.
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS VS BOURNEMOUTH – THE MOLINEAX
A first-ever Premier League meeting between Wolves and Bournemouth awaits on Saturday. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are aiming for three-in-a-row after they recorded back-to-back wins with their stoppage time victory at Newcastle United last weekend, adding to their shock 2-1 trouncing of Chelsea a fortnight ago – a result which ended a six-games winless run in the league.
Bournemouth have suffered five defeats in their last six heading into Saturday’s encounter are in danger of slipping into the bottom half of the table with defeat at Wolves, who would leapfrog them in the process, which seems almost unfathomable following the superb start Eddie Howe’s side made where they picked up five wins from their first eight games.
Wolves have not beaten Bournemouth in any of their last five matches since a 3-1 win in December 1989. Their last meeting at the Molineax ended 2-1 to the visitors Bournemouth in the Championship in December 2016.
FULHAM VS WEST HAM UNITED – CRAVEN COTTAGE
A London derby looms between newly-promoted Fulham and West Ham United from across the capital in the final fixture on an action-packed Saturday. Fulham remain rooted rock-bottom of the pile after their 4-1 demolition at the hands of Man United last week, although new manager Claudio Ranieiri is unbeaten at Craven Cottage since taking charge, drawing 1-1 with former club Leicester City last Wednesday.
West Ham United have seemingly found their feet, finally, under Manuel Pellegrini with the Hammers having suffered just one defeat – 4-0 against Manchester City - in their last seven league matches which has propelled the East London outfit into 11
th place on the table.
The corresponding fixture on New Years Day in 2014 ended 2-1 to the hosts when Steve Sidwell and Dimitar Berbatov netted either side of the break to complete the turnaround for Fulham who had gone behind to an early Mo Diame goal. Fulham have won three of the last four matches at Craven Cottage, played in the last decade.
